BYHP’s summer of events got off to a great start on Friday in CIC Boston. We welcomed Kelly Fanning, Senior Director of Population Health Management at Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization (BWPO), as speaker for our Breakfast with a Healthcare Leader series.
In an open and insightful talk, Ms. Fanning reflected on her eight years at Blue Cross Blue Shield where she developed her career working in different roles, including consulting and becoming Director for both Performance Measurement and Improvement and Network Alignment. A point of particular interest to attendees was her highlighting the importance of networking. This played a large part in the direction of her career as she discussed how the strategic timing of her networking efforts, played out alongside big life events.
She explained her work in population health management at BWPO as being “closer to the mission.” She also talked about the joys and challenges of being a manager throughout her career, being a healthcare leader in a high-change environment, and transformation of population health in BWPO and the current shift towards “care innovation”.
Ms. Fanning wrapped up the morning by expressing her commitment to coach and mentor young professionals and be a role model for female healthcare leaders.
Stay tuned for more information on our next Breakfast with a Healthcare Leader event in September!
